TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED: Wood-Feeding Pellet Grills

A motor turns the auger which feeds pellets into the firebox. There, a hot rod automatically ignites the pellets, and a combustion fan below keeps them burning. Vents vertically line the inside of the Firebox creating a circular air flow. A fan inside the Pellet Hopper maintains positive pressure which prevents burn-back in the auger tube. When met these two air flows create the ultimate wood burning fire and circulating pure hardwood smoke flavor.

In addition, Jeff’s Backyard has been a member of the prestigious Weber Alliance Dealership network for the past number of years. When you want that one-of-a-kind smoky flavor, you simply have to use lump charcoal and flavoring wood to achieve that succulent taste you so desire. Nothing comes close, really. However, you have myriad choices in charcoal & wood powered cookers, and unfortunately there are some not-so-good models in the marketplace. That’s where you can count on Jeff’s Backyard and our well tested assortment of proven charcoal/wood cooking systems to provide you the tools to get the job done right. Whether it’s the time-tested Weber kettle (and it’s robust line of options), the classic Weber Smokey Mountain smoker, or the super-versatile Big Green Egg ceramic cooker, we have the finest backyard tools for preparing meals that will have your family and friends savoring for a long time.

Nothing fancy here, just classic outdoor cookin’, Texas style! No one really knows the origins or the start date of these beautiful behemoths, but it’s well known that this style of barbequing started in the oil patches of Texas. Think about it: cows were on top of the land and oil was underneath, so somebody was bound to make the connection. And thank goodness they did. When it comes to grilling mass quantities, Size Does Matter, and there is nothing like big, honkin’ steel casing crafted into an offset smoker to produce a platter full of what the old cowboy would call “noble grub.”

We proudly carry our own line pits that we simply call the Texas Trailblazer line. We start by using well-known fabricators in Uvalde, Texas, but we modify them to our specifications. Our Texas Trailblazer smokers are designed to withstand not only time and Mother Nature, but regular use. Fabricated from ¼” new steel pipeline casing and all welded construction, they are built to last a lifetime. Our steel pits feature: 12” steel wheels, stay cool stainless steel handles, a ½” threaded port for a temperature gauge, 1-¼” drain for grease & drippings, and a firebox with an optional gas burner assembly unit, among other elegant design features. The Texas Trailblazer is manufactured with longevity & convenience in mind. With a little care and maintenance, our pits will last for years to come!

Jeff’s Backyard has also added to inventory a second line of offset smokers.  They are Bad Habit and are made in La Vernia TX.  Bad Habit pits are machine cut and have a very smooth weld.  They also have a fire box that loads from the end, not the top.  This means higher heat and less wood used.  Another feature the Bad Habit has is a slide out tray that allows for direct cooking with charcoal.  Come by and see the good features of the Bad Habit.
